Cabinet programs rarely use one fixture length or one wiring method. A customer may need 9-inch, 18-inch and 24-inch models in the same range, while some projects require direct wiring and others use a power cord. LIBO can review the cabinet drawing, mounting-hole position, linking distance and driver layout before the first sample is assembled.
For retail programs, plug-in and hardwired versions can share the same housing platform where the electrical structure allows. This reduces unnecessary tooling differences and helps keep the lens appearance, color temperature and mounting accessories consistent across the series.

ODM Development From Product Brief to Approved Sample
Moving from a concept to a certified lighting product requires strict control over dimensions, thermal management, and electrical components.
1. Product Brief and Drawing Review
The review begins with the application, housing size, mounting method, target wattage and certification market. For an under cabinet light, the cabinet depth and wire exit may affect the housing design; for an outdoor wall light, the back plate and sealing path need to be confirmed before appearance development.
2. Structural and Electronic Development
Engineering determines the housing structure, mounting holes, driver space, and LED board layout. The heat path is evaluated to ensure junction temperatures remain within limits, while sensor or switch positions are mapped out for user accessibility.
3. Prototype and Function Check
During the sample stage, the physical assembly is verified. We confirm that the appearance matches expectations, and check the CCT, wattage, dimming curve, sensor sensitivity, and any integrated USB or outlet functions against the initial brief.
4. Testing and Sample Approval
Before customer approval, the prototype undergoes photometric testing, temperature rise evaluation, and aging tests. Depending on the project, flicker tests, waterproof validation, salt spray tests, or packaging drop tests are conducted to mitigate deployment risks.
5. Mass Production Transfer
Once the sample is approved, the exact BOM, structural drawings, color specifications, driver models, and packaging requirements are locked into the production documentation. This transfer process is critical to reduce deviations and ensure mass production stability.
Testing Before a Product Moves Into Bulk Production
A sample that lights normally for several minutes is not enough for production approval. Wattage, CCT, lumen output, temperature rise and dimming behavior need to be checked against the agreed specification, especially when several sizes share one product family.
Outdoor products can be evaluated for water entry and finish corrosion before final approval. Packaging drop tests are used when the carton structure, product weight or retail delivery method creates a higher risk of lens or housing damage during transport.

Production Control Based on the Approved Configuration
Once the sample is approved, the confirmed housing, LED board, driver, CCT, finish and accessories are transferred into the production documentation. This is especially important for product families that include several sizes, because a component change in one model should not create a visible color or function difference across the range.
During assembly and aging, production units are checked against the approved sample and electrical specification. Packaging materials, inner protection and carton configuration can also be reviewed when the order is intended for retail distribution or parcel delivery.

Developed for North American Electrical and Installation Requirements
A product intended for a residential retail program may require 120V TRIAC dimming and junction-box mounting, while a commercial version may use 120–277V input and 0–10V control. These configurations should be separated during the engineering review because the driver space, wiring and certification scope may not be interchangeable.
For Canadian or North American retail programs, labels, instruction language, carton markings and installation accessories can be reviewed together with the product specification rather than added after production starts.
Compliance and Documentation for Customer Review
Certification and test documents are reviewed by product model and configuration. A change in driver, wattage, emergency function or housing structure may require a separate evaluation, so the final certification scope should be confirmed before mass production.
Reports and certificates can be provided for applicable products during project review.
